What Happened to the Disney Princesses?

I wanted to share this because my daughter is a huge fan of Disney Princesses now and when she gets older, say around 10, and I have to shake some reality into her, I'm going to use this as a visual aid.

Cinderella

Snow White

Sleeping Beauty

KISS SHREDS...well...not really.

Some things just do not need any explanation. They are there for pure entertainment...this is one of those things.

Also, I might add that using KISS for the video automatically makes it 20x funnier.

Creed - "Full Circle" Review

Ok, any of my friends from high school and probably even college can tell you I was a big fan of Creed. I was the guy to always defend them when critics unjustly labeled them as a "Christian Band" or a "mainstream pop-rock." If you want "Christian Rock" listen to D.C. Talk or Jars of Clay (both not that bad); if you want mainstream pop-rock listen to Daughtry (sadly, also not that bad.) Creed is neither.

In fact, it was their popularity that drove people to hate them. I don't think anyone was harsh on Creed during the years of their debut album My Own Prison, and probably actually really thought they were a pretty badass band. It was the huge success of their breakthrough album Human Clay that drove the Creed haters out of the woodworks. The video for "Higher" alone pissed off those that never even heard of the band; it was playing everywhere at the time.

Sadly, Creed self-destructed in classic rock n' roll style. First, they mysteriously booted out bassist Brian Marshall, a major part of the success for the first two albums. Then frontman Scott Stapp became the human wrecking ball of the group by his outlandish behavior both off and on stage. Pill popping and alcohol abuse were evident as Stapp brought the band's reputation crashing down around them.

After the so-so success of Weathered, it was clear that Creed had seen their heyday. Soon afterwards, we heard stories of Stapp getting a beat-down by the band members of 311, meeting a group of teenage girls at an IHOP for a midnight booty call, and the infamous porno with Kidd Rock. I can see why guitarist Mark Tremonti and drummer Scott Phillips had enough of his shit and decided to hook back up with exiled Marshall to form Alter Bridge. With the assistance of veteran singer/guitarist Myles Kennedy, Alter Bridge was the change the band needed. No drama, just hard rock. Sure, they weren't selling out arenas and selling millions of CDs anymore but the band was stable and it sounded awe-inspiring again.

Well, flash forward 7 years. Stapp's solo album The Great Divide and career has long since tanked. He needs money. What to do? Change your image (via a good head-shaving) and get the old band back together for a reunion tour; it has become the cliché of 2009.

Stapp claims he is a new man and he is willing to turn Creed around "full circle." Segue into the new album, which this is really about. I know this band is older and more mature now but that's different from progressing and regressing. I think Tremonti and the rest of the muscians have progressed during their time with Alter Bridge, Stapp on the other hand has lost something.

When first hearing "Overcome," Full Circle's first single, I thought the band was going for a heavier sound from their previous records which is fine. Their next single "Rain" was the quintessential Creed-sounding song which was ok. Listening now to the full album, there's just something missing. After two full listens, I figured it out; Stapp doesn't sing anymore. I mean, he hits some notes here and there, but they are short lived to be certain. The best way I can describe it is how he sings the word "breathe" at the end of a verse: he sings it "...it only hurts to breathe-a" instead of carrying it out to fit the music like "...it only hurts to breeeeaaathe." I don't know if that's a helpful description…how ‘bout this...he sings just like Metallica's James Hetfield does. Better?

That's not all, this album could have been considered Stapp's second solo album (just with a lot better musicians.) Just like his first solo album, his voice overpowers the muted music in the background. It’s a pity because the songs on Full Circle have some really incredible solos and intros by Tremonti. They're just drowned out too much by Stapp's gritty growling to be appreciated. The songs are a bit stale too, they're missing that incredible lick that Tremonti brought to Creed's biggest songs like "Higher" or "My Sacrifice."

It's not a total loss though, some of the songs are very good. For example, "On My Sleeve" is pretty catchy and "Bread of Shame" is one of the hardest songs I've heard out of the band since "What If." "Fear" is pretty much the closest thing to anything from their old sound and if you have enjoyed "Rain" or "Overcome" chances you'll enjoy the album enough to be grateful of their return.

This was a good attempt to bring Creed back but I don't see it lasting very long to be anything half as powerful as what the band had at the beginning of the decade. I’ve already heard nightmares about the reunion tour and the album just pales in comparison to other homecomings like Alice in ChainsBlue Gives Way to Black. In the meantime, viva la Alter Bridge!

Elderly Man's Arm Bitten Off by Alligator at Golf Course

This just in...and it's true.

While playing the 11th hole of a golf course in South Carolina, a 79 year old man reached into the water hazard to grab his ball. That's when a 10 foot alligator leaped out dragging the man into the water by his arm spinning him into a death role. The man was saved by his golfing partners but alas he lost his arm to the gator. Officials quickly killed the gator and retrieved the arm from his insides in hopes to replace it. The elderly golfer has yet to be identified. - Source -
I'm thinking he looks something like this...
